Holy Week at St. Philip’s 2017

Holy Week is the one week of the year when we dedicate our time to the re-telling and re-experiencing of our faith story. The services for Holy Week are:

PALM SUNDAY – 10:45 a.m. Meet in the Parish Hall for the blessing of the palms, processing into the church, reading of the Passion Gospel and communion.
WEDNESDAY – Stations of the Cross in the church at 6:30 p.m.
MAUNDY THURSDAY – At 6:30 p.m. we celebrate and remember Jesus’ institution beginning what we know as holy communion, followed by the stripping of the altar and a watch in the chapel like the disciples went to the garden with Jesus.
GOOD FRIDAY – The Good Friday Liturgy at 6:30 p.m. uses the communion elements left from the day before as we remember Jesus’ crucifixion on the cross.
EASTER EVE – Easter begins at 7:00 p.m. Saturday with the new fire of Easter in the narthex of the church, showing the light of Christ overcoming darkness in the lighting of the pascal candle, reading stories about our religious history through the centuries and the first Eucharist of Easter.
EASTER DAY – The Easter service begins at 10:45 a.m., on Easter Sunday, which includes the decorating of the cross with flowers parishioners bring from home, Easter communion and an Easter egg hunt for kids.
We hope you will come for as many services as you can during Holy Week.
